Looks like they got smart. I have a 95. I guess the adage newer is better and incremental changes are really true!

I think your cable came off the stud that opens the latch.
If that's the case you need to get your hand in there to push the rod with your fingers. Look at your passenger side latch, you'll have to lift on the lid, to see how it works and what you need to move.

Mine is a 95. There is a lever on both sides. I had the same problem with the drivers side as you. To get mine unstuck I pushed and pulled on the lid while using the release to get it open. I really had to put some muscle into it. It didn’t want to budge babying it. Once I got it open, I put some grease on the pin and have not had it stick again and it has been well over a year since it happened.

Here's the 95 diagram one more time
There is a lever on both sides. I wonder why you have one on the PAX side and not the drivers.

The drivers side release should be in the same spot just on the drivers side. I wont be able to take any more pics for a few day its snowing with 35mph winds here so if no one posts a picture of it ill do it when things settle down a bit.

On a 95 both sides are identical mirror images.

If you're able to find the pass side you should have no problem finding the driver side one. I wonder if its maybe broken off. the lever is just a piece of plastic.

Default Problem 92 Convertible Lid Latch

back at this problem today . looked at it this morning. hard to get at on this driver side compare to the passenger side. either the driver side lever is broke off or I still can not find it . and any of the 4 button won't release the lid on the driver side , I am in for a hard repair. but still not sure about your 95' being the same as my 92' look forward to any thought , thanks for everyones time and help ,

Aboatguy, Thanks for your diagram and help, I was able to get the passenger side lid latch bracket off "meaning the bracket that screws onto the lid from the underside. Do you know if your diagram shows the other side to be the same two srews and locations ? very hard to get at what I believe are the two srews , especially the outer one. Dont want to unsrews them without knowing . Thank JC
