Can anyone tell me where I can buy these? How much should they cost?? They mount the hardtop to the windshield.

Hardtop hardware
Sorry but I do not have a picture of it. I assume it is some type of metal plate with 3 holes for hardware and a pin that the latches on the windshield locks on to. Send me your email address in a private message and I will send a picture to you of the area on the hardtop where it would mount. thanks for your help.

I got mine there to retrofit a hardtop on my 87 vert. You will also need the upper windshield header trim piece as it is different on the 89-96 than the 86-88

True, there are three types of mounts used on the hard tops, 84 to E86, L86 to 89, 90 to 96. I bought an 86L to 89 hard top and had to make the hold down plates to fit my 91. The mounting is completely different. It was a real PITA but I got it done. If you'd like and could send some pics of the bracket I made this weekend. I looked all over for bracket conversion kits and even though people say you can buy them (especially on Ebay) Ithink its a selling gimick, they just don't exist due to the wide variance of the mount geometry on the different cars.

Lets make sure we are on the same page. I was talking about fitting the convertible hardtop to your car. If you are talking about the targa top then you should already have them on the car.

I have an 87 convertible and want to mount a hardtop (not targa top) to it. I would have thought the mounting to the windshield would have been the same as the soft top by a pin in the hardtop that gets latched in place by the levers on the inside of the windshield

Are you also aware that the hardtop mounts in the middle, near the upper mountings of the seatbelts?? I think that's what people here are thinking you are referring to. Or maybe I'm confused too...

You put a torx wrench through a little hole in the plastic under the visors, and screw them into the hardtop.
