Belt?
Replacement of the serpentine belt on an 84, should be pretty easy right? Wrong... what a pain the the a$$. How do you get the darn belt passed the bottom pulley. There is a plate underneath the pulley and not enough clearance to slip the belt off. Any suggestions

It gets some getting use to. Never been a problem for me either. My power steering has the cooling 'loop' so I think its even more of a problem. Do it by feel with your fingers. Believe me there are cars out there that are ten times worse than ours.

your right should be real easy. It takes two seconds to get off the tensioner, comes off every pulley real easy. I've got lots of room then once i get to the bottom pulley it won't come off the very very bottom. The belt appears to be wider than the gap between the pulley and the part of the frame it sits over.
I've changed several others before on other cars but this one, just doesn't want to cooperate with me
