Default Checking oil
When is the best time to check the oil?

When it has been sitting for a bit? or
Just after shutting it off?

I know this is probably a very dumb question but I'm cool like that.

You have to wait long enough for all the oil in the heads,especially, to drain back into the pan. Thirty minutes is certainly long enough. I generally don't wait but about ten minutes.

You can check it after it sat all night, it will show just a little lower because it is cold.
