Someone on the forum recommended using Bon Ami glass cleaner on the windows. I tried it when I put it away for the winter and it works great, except it left a softball sized rough spot on the passenger window. It's almost like it etched the glass . Will glass polish take care of this? I've never seen anything like this before. Has anyone else using Bon Ami ever had this happen?

Did you leave the stuff on there for a long time, or rinse it off right away? Are you sure the glass is actually etched, and that there isn't some residue of Bon Ami or something else on the surface?
I seriously doubt the Bon Ami did this to your window. But, now you've got me curious. I think I'll run an experiment with some scrap glass to see what happens.
If you learn any more about this, please post and update. I'm sure many of us would like to know.
I have no idea why your window was was screwed up, but it sounds like it is toast. I have tried polishing out windows before, and if it is anything large enough to catch your fingernail on, forget it.
I just replaced mine (88 coupe) because it was scratched my a diamond ring or something before I bought it. I got it on Ebay for $65.00 delivered vs about $200 from 'NEWGMPARTS.COM for a new one. The seller was "carworksect" and he said he has about 20 in stock.
Hope this helps you.
Are the scratches straight up and down?If so it is the outer window weatherstrip felt wearing out.It exposes the rivets that hold it and scratches the windows.Bon Ami was recommended for years by GM in the owners manual. It should not have caused this.
For future reference, I recommend Stoners Invisible Glass and newspaper.
I own a car wash in So Cal and all we use is the Stoner Invisible glass. It is the best stuff that I have seen in the industry. Window look like they aren't even there.
