Well i was going to go ahead and put C6 rims on my 87, untill i found out what a set of tires cost.
it looks like i would have at least $3,500 + in wheels, adaptors and tires.
So for now i guess i will stay with the 16's that came on the car, it has the base suspension and has always had Goodyear 255 50 zr16 on it, i was not real happy with the last set because of balance problems with the Goodyears, and i do not want another set of tires that cause the car to shake at any thing over 75.
so i am thinking of a set of BFG's G-force sports or the yokahama avid v4s. the Yokahomas are what my local tire guy recomends.
What do you think?
Any suggestions?
I like the way the BFG's look and the reviews at Tire Rack are mostly positive.
I just bought two Bfg G-Force Sports for mine (I bought the car with two new ones on the rear and some Kelly's on the front---the Kelly's had to go!). I love 'em. They have a great looking tread pattern (especially when the hood is up), and I just ran 'em back and forth to St. Augustine for a weekend and they're quiet enough for lot's of cruisin'.
They're just kinda hard to find...Tire Kingdom had to special order 'em since no one else had 'em.
Check out AFS wheels. They have ZR-1 17" wheels that are a direct replacement. With these, you'll have a greater selection of rubber you can use. Check them out on ebay.
I went with the Yokohama Avid V4s. So far they have been great (only 1000 miles). Super quiet and very smooth on the highway. They corner as well as the Goodyear Hp Ultras they replaced, but are so much better.
