does anyone know a bank, credit union or such that i can get ahold of that isn't too picky about a well optioned 96 with 98,000 miles.. the buyer has great credit its just that the banks we tried are being sketchy about the mileage and won't go for more than a two year term... i was like its outside, it runs great, looks great and its a damn corvette... did anyone ru into this when they bought theirs and what did you end up doing??

I used a company called AutoBank. They're down here in Plantation, Fl. Bought my '88 with 86k miles on it. No questions asked. I wouldn't really recommend them too much, since they gave me a 29% interest on the thing.. but then again, it's my 1st car and I had no credit.. had my dad co-sign.
Pro, I don't know of any specific source, but if the buyer's a veteran or an affiliate of some group or work, it may go a little better with a related credit union. I say, may.
There may also be some online resoureces altho I haven't heard of any. Something like an "eloan" for cars????
And Fork, 29%? Wow! Do really, really big guys come to chat with you if you're a day late in the monthly payment? j/k.

haha! Actually, I've been paying it off in $500 increments the past couple of months and it's almost paid off. I refuse to pay the grand total they are hoping for.
My plan was to have it off by the end of March, but work just cut me down to less than half of the hours I was doing before, so now I predict Summer will be when I have it paid off :

Eloan....I used them on my 96 CE. If your credit is above a certain threshold they look the other way on mileage and age.....atleast they did for me (more age than mileage as my CE only had 42xxx on it at the time).

Another okie PM me if you are still looking for a loan. My local bank is great. They use nada and will lend what ever loan is maybe alittle more depending on credit. Interest is based off of year and fico.
We got excellent financing through Costco for both a used Vette and a Suburban. Costco finances through Capital One but I believe if you are a Costco member you may get a discount. Age and mileage of the cars were not a problem and the check arrived within a few days. Good luck.
Wow !Fork501 first car a 'Vette ! How many people can say that? I had good luck with Vantage Credit Union. Not sure if they are in Oklahoma. They did my '89 no problem.
Yea,..... i would have paid 50% interest just to have my first car a vette! My first car was a simca, it was french,...no it didn't run, and yep i got just what i paid for,a $5.00 peice of french crap! ... ...

Did it come with french fries???
Capital One = The helped finance my ricer mods at one point... Can't beat 7%. Oh but I had a little bit of credit under my sleeve from paying off a new 2001 Civic in 04.
Seriously check out Credit Unions in your area. I went to the family bank (La Salle) and the lady who has helped my parents since the early nineties told us that their rates were terrible and to check out a place called Blank Blank Credit Union for auto loans.
My loan is a joint loan, in my name and my dads. I have a long and great credit history with my parents(I bought stuff and paid them back, plus a little extra for letting me do it), but not with the card companies(Only had credit cards for 7 months). My score was 720 and I was given an A rating, but had too short a history to get the size of loan I wanted. Hence the joint loan.
My dad actually recommended I get a Vette to replace my Triumph, which has never let me down, but it's very antiquated in operation. I have a manual choke, a 4sp. and it has nothing power except the brakes(the booster doesn't function either!). He says they drive like regular cars, in that you can get in and go whenever and wherever you want.
Here's the important part: The loan was at 5.xx percent in my parents name and would ahve been 7.5% in my own name.
If all goes well, I may be picking my Vette up Tuesday or Saturday of this week.
GT6
BTW - We all know French Cars suck. My condolences for having to own one.
I used them for my second C4, rate was 5.49% back in 2001.
Good company to deal with. Rates depend on the type of loan, (dealer, private seller, refi, etc. ) and term (anywhere fro 30 - 72 months). + you can finance up to 100% of the price.
The great part is, once you qualify, they send you a blank check (good for up to your approved limit) that's good for 45 days, so you can shop around.
I used Capitol One as well when I bought my 94 a year and a half ago. They didn't care what the mileage was, just write the blank check out with the VIN number on the face of the check. Very easy. I'm very happy with the way it worked out.
