your best bet, to get the right part is to contact Ecklers...
it's a snap on ratchet with a long T55, if I remember rightly.
However, Ecklers sells the right part.
Thank You... Unfortunately and please correct me if I am mistaken, however I believe Ecklers sells only one style and it's an aftermarket version at that. I'm looking for a correct factory original.
1990 corvette is just a "torx" wrench. You dont need to spend money on a special tool, I think its either T-15 or T-30 I forget.
Dont waste your money
Thanks for the advice... I do appreciate it. However this is going in a virtually mint low milage all original 90 ZR-1. I have everything original for it including the Owners Kit in Mint condition, everything that is except the Targa Top tool... So I really want to get a nice original tool.
Call me lazy, but did anyone ever come out with and electric tool or something to remove the top quicker? A quick release system?
If you insist...
You're Lazy
I'm not aware of any such tool. It seems like it would be easy enough to make one yourself with the proper size torx tool, remove the handle and adapt it to work with an adjustable drive drill, ideally one with an adjustable angle drive head.
Oh wait... This would require effort and therefore might not be something for someone that's Lazy Just kidding or course.
It would be kind of cool, though I doubt I would buy one.
Mid-America sells the electric top removal tool, and it will cost all you lazy people out there $50. I would suggest just using one out of the garage with the right bit on it if you want to go that way. I would think that you risk stripping the threads easier with an electric tool though.
