head question

Default head question

i have an 87 a4 coupe. how can i tell if i have cast iron or aluminum heads? i'm trying to get new plugs but it lists plugs for each and i dont know what i have

If you can't tell by the color use a magnet it will stick to the cast heads but not allumium

Magnet

Stock motor changed mid year 86 to aluminum. Your 87 should have aluminum. But if you are not the original owner, you NEVER know what someone has done. Check with a magnet.

All 87s have aluminum heads if they are original.

thanks guys, was wanting to put ngk iridium plugs in it but they are only for cast iron. guess i will go with the g-power ones.
