I deal with LCD's at work all the time, and the lcd is not cracked and is not leaking. I think it's a contact that is causing this. Anyone have anything like this happen?
I have a guide by Gordon Killebrew on dash removal and cleaning of the contacts, and was wondering if there was anything else I can do before that?
GT6, did you pull the dash and attempt a repair? I have a similar problem with some of my LCD segments. Before I spend $100s on a rebuild, I was wondering if cleaning PCB contacts, etc might cause my "missing" segments to light up

It could simply be a poor connection on the pink strips. Always screw the board down over it evenly.
As far as LCDs go, these ones stay dark, but clear up when energized, completely opposite how your typical lcd works. Not sure how they pull that off, keeping them dark with no power.

By turning the filter lens over. I always thought that they were all on and went off to allow the back light to shine through with the colour of the filter behind. They come ON to block the light from shining through in other words.....

Has anyone actually fixed a missing LCD segment by cleaning up the pink connectors? Things look fragile to me I'm willing to give it a try, but has anyone seen success?
The LCD I received was brand new, and came with excellent installation instructions. I ran in to a problem during installation, and sent the seller a note. He replied quickly with great advice. In no time at all my dash was at full display. I subsequently bought another LCD from this same seller to help a friend with his dash. Same great service.
