Default Door Panel question

I have an 86 vert, that is in decent shape, but needs some finishing touches.
In shopping around for door panels, I'm getting SEVERAL vendors telling me that there is NO diffrence between the coupe and 'vert door panels, although Ecklers, MAM, wilcox and others have diffrent part numbers and prices for them. ('vert panels are $30-50 more)

What is the diffrence, and are all (84-89) door panels generic?

Thanks for your help

Hum, interesting. I had to cut holes in my new door panels to install factory hatch release switches. Are you sure about this??

The black trim piece that rides along the top of the door panel is different from Coupe to 'vert. Usually when you buy a new door panel it does not come with this piece, you reuse your existing one. The door panels themselves are the same though. If the panels you are looking at come wiht the black trim piece along the top of the door panel than you will need 'vert specific.

Hope this helps,

My humble appology-just went out to look (guess my memory is worse
than what I remember) yes, the hatch switch is on the door panel
plastic portion-it is however concealed when the door is closed. Once
again-sorry for the bad

Had to just go out and look (memory must be worse than I remember ) you are right-I appologize-the hatch switches are
located in the plastic-concealed when the doors are closed-I haven't
used any of the hatch switches since new alarm with keyless controls
my hatch as well-once again-sorry but I believe all else is the same.Just duped

The only difference is the top black trim piece. I got mine from Willcox, best price and great customer service.
