Customizing a C4

enough to buy a set for a C4. Several people used to harass me for spending so much on a C4. I've always told them that I don't see anything wrong with dumping excessive amounts of money into any generation Corvette.

BTW: Those are very, very, very, VERY nice wheels!

The wing is a race wing -- which he picked because he races the car.

This pic was the biggest motivation for continuing past the bumpers mods I've already done. BTW: I think he said this car is an '85.

Thanks for the info man

I am a fan of rosewood kits and of brushed aluminum. They can really dress things up, particularly as accents. In my case, I purchased an aluminum kit first. However, I only got the middle pieces (console and AC bezel) and the long door panels. My hope was to avoid the flat dash look by having different surface materials. Later, I saw a car with Rosewood and liked it better. So, what to do? Of course, I’m combining both!
With the center section in aluminum and the speedo/passenger panel in rosewood, I'm hoping the dash will be broken up so it doesn’t look so flat. I’m even trying to figure out if I can merge the alum with the center plastic so it looks like they were MADE with aluminum. In other words, they’ll still have the black borders. Part of this would be easier if I could find some small rubber “U”channel to use around the inner cutouts. It would have to be something I could slide onto a thin edge (1/8”) and give it a border.
My interior is light graphite (grey). But I bought black cargo and floor mats to accent. Then (after the sprinkler system at work ruined my seats), I purchased two-toned seat covers. The seat centers are red with a black border. This gives the entire interior more of a black/red appearance.
I’m thinking of dying or covering the door panels in black because neither alum/rosewood contrasts well with the grey panels. Also, I think the thin door handle piece would look good if it contrasted (wood grain)?
The center console lid needs replacing and I’ll go with black to add to the black/red theme. I’ll probably use bulldog plastic primer and dye the sides of the center console black. I’ll probably leave the carpet grey – because it adds contrast and helps with heat reduction. Plus, it still looks new!
I also bought a C5-emblemed pool ball shifter ****. I’ll have to tap it to get it to fit. But it has a more elegant look to it. I also plan on putting a C5 waterfall emblem on the passenger dash. (And, maybe some bowties on the door panels).
Then there’s the stereo. Alpine head unit, EQ, four-channel amp (mounted on the back of the hatch area), two 8” subs in the rear holes, original Bose speakers in the door, and 4x6 coaxs in the dash. Of course the original Bose head unit and amps will be sold. I’ll use the original factory covers to hide everything. The amp with be visible though. I took the brand emblem plate off of it and replaced it with a black/silver rear bumper emblem. This makes it LOOK like the amp was factory installed. If I get tricky, I’ll use the stereo cutout (from the alum kit) to create door to hide the head unit. I did this on another car and it looked perfect. (Actually, I made the door out of a factory radio face – so it LOOKED like the original radio was still installed. My remote control worked thru the closed fake face -- which had a magnet and spring loaded hinges just like an entertainment center door.
The amp will also be easily hidden with the rear shade, so that would take car of obvious advertising for stereo thieves. But, then there’s the car. After it’s all fixed up and restored, the car could be a bigger "target". If I include the high-rise hood, side-pipes, and wing, maybe they think it’s so gaudy, thieves will pass it by!

I do have a couple more pics of the red Greenwood. I did not post them because the hood has the stick on Greenwood hood scoop and the front spoiler was not glassed in. How half-a$$d can you get!? I guess they got tired by the time they got to the front! I can post these additional pics if you want.
Actually, I've collected about 750 pics of various vettes over the past few years. All in an attempt to find the perfect mod(s). Let me know if there's something you want to see and I might just have it!

BTW: If it wasn't clear before, the single best mod I've found is to put wide tires on the rear. If you don't do anything else, get those rear tires stickin out (just a tad)!
