Default Fan Problem

I have a 93 Vette. Noticed that the temp. started going up while idling or just regular driving. When I am on the highway, the temp went down to normal operating temps. Found that the fan wasnt coming on. Checked the fuses and all of them where good. Any ideas of why its not coming on. Could the motor be bad or is there a relay somewhere that could have gone out.

I'm not sure at exactly what temperature (I'm sure many people on the forum can tell us) the fan is supposed to kick in on, but I think it's around 228. Just a thought, but are you sure its reached the temperature where its supposed to come on? I know when I first got mine it scared me a little in traffic when I started seeing the temperature guage go up, but before it reached the red zone the fan cut on and it began to cool. You might just start it up and test it in your garage. The rising temperature in traffic seems to be pretty common behavior if you follow other C4 owners experiences.

try turning on the a/c as a test. The secondary fan should come on as soon as you hit the a/c button regardless of the engine temp.

Secondary fan? Are you reffering to the auxilary fan offered by Chevy as a "heavy duty package"? I dont think it or the main fan come on by just hitting the AC button on. Maybe it was different for the 93 but my 86 still has to reach 228 for the main fan and 238 for the auxilary fan to come on. But, I did get the 200 switch from Ecklers and now the auxilary fan comes on at 200. Main fan really never has to do much...

I have a 93 also, turnning on the A/C turns on a fan. I don't know which one? It's the first car I ever drove that turnning on the A/C cools it off?

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I believe that it is the primary fan that comes on when you turn on the AC. Either bUy a manual switch for the fans, or have a new chip burned to turn the primary fan turn on a 195*.

did you mean that the primary fan turned on at 228 or the secondary? thanks..I have a 93 and am experiencing some quirks..the primary comes on at engine start...then shuts off..but when I turn on the ac then both fans come on...thanks
