Does anyone know where I can get the replacement push nuts that attach the shift boot and the drive selector plate to the bottom of the center console? I have checked all the usual places, Pep Boys, Chevy Dealer, Ecklers, everything on the internet, Home Depot......nothing.
You guys that have replaced your center console before must have located them or attached the boot and shift plate another way. More quality from GM, who the heck thinks up this goofy design?
Try a small "hometown" type hardware store like a TrueValue etc. Most have a large assortment of all types of fasteners..nuts, bolts, shims, c nuts etc. They are usually behind a counter or along the wall of the store...displayed in cardboard boxes that pull out...or in plastic bins . Good Luck.
Mine is a 1996. On the other end of that flathead screw is what is called a push - nut. The nut slips over the plastic rod of the underneath od the conole, and the metal screw then gets self threaded through the nut.
Try an automotive trim shop or auto upholstery shop, they have a plethora of clips, washers etc. Always wanted to use that word in a sentence. Pletora, plethora, plethora..........
