Default Found out the code from SYS on the dash

Just bought this 93 and did not know what the SYS ment on the dash. Had some PM work done at a local Corvette shop done and this is what they found. It shows code 13 dtc from the CCM. The tech said it was a very labor intensive job to locate the problem. So, due to limited cash at this time, I just let it flash. Any one have this code and were able to correct it. 93 Ruby Stock Thanks for any help.

Usally the SYS flashing on the dash is an easy fix . Usally it is low battery . This has happened to me plenty of times until I got my Battery Tender and now battery is fully charged all the time and no SYS ! Hope this helps and saves you some money .

Thanks, but I just replaced the battery and the radio is still stock. The tech said it may be the buttons on the dash. I did notice that I can't reset the trip odomoter unless I keep pressing the button. Also, when I press the gauge button, I can't get the digital read out to show. Somethime it will, and sometime it won't work.

HG I had my new battery about 2 weeks when I got the 1st SYS . If your car isn't started very often in the winter at least 3 or 4 times a week your battery does some draining . This is just my experiance for many years . All the best .

i agree, just because the battery is new doesn't mean there isn't a drain somewhere. either normal drain or a drain you haven't found yet. my sys flashed when i first got the car, and stopped after a new battery.

Just after I installed the battery, I drove to Delaware and back. This was about 120 miles and the SYS was still flashing. I.m sure the battery was at full charge, the amp gauge said 14 v during the trip. Hopefully, this weather will change and I'll start driving it more often and see what happens. The car only has 8K miles so it has seen a lot of sitting time. Just had a new opti ( seal leaked on the water pump ) and new tires by the previous owner. I just had the Trans fluid, brake fluid, rear end fluid, and antifreeze changed. . When I pay down that bill, I'll have the SYS looked at.

Don't rely on the alternator charging the car especially if it had died.

Check your fuses as well, you never know. I had a SYS with a blown fuse.
I also had it with a weak battery.

Thanks, the new battery was the first thing I tried. The old one was 4+ years old. I did not check for any fuses blown. If this weather ever changes, I'll look at the fuses. Thanks for all of the help and ideas.[/QUOTE]

my volts read 14.6 for four months, i put about 300 miles on my 94 every week, and the volts stayed up...my SYS is still flashing since i got it. last week after reading these posts about the battery being bad, i took the battery out and down to the shop, had them test it...BAD BATTERY(he said that it lost almost 40% of its power, and will not charge to full anymore) THANKS TO THIS FORUM!!!

code 13 is a DIC switches error... this means the buttons on the dash (gauges, trip, metric, ect) are having issues.

I would have to read my FSM to figure how "intensive" this fix really is... but from my perspective, perhaps a new set of switches might just fix it???

Yes, when the SYS was flashing, none of the switches seem to work. I just went out w ith the car for a ride and now it's not flashing and all of the switches work. This dash is so different from my 88, I can't see how to remove the switch panel if the trouble comes back. Thanks to everyone who posted some ideas.

Guy, I had it done at Gallants on Atwood Rd in Bel Air. He does good work but is expensive. $340 Trans, rear and brake fluid. Plus he looked at the code but didn't do any repair. Did you tell me you had Corsa system on your car.

Yes, I am familiar w/ Gallants. They do great work. I need to have these things done and was curious about the price. Did this include the coolant change also? Yes, I have Corsa and would highly recomend. Are you thinking about exhaust? Let me know we can meet up and you can hear it. Guy

No, the anti-freeze was done by the dealer who did the opti spark and water pump gasket on the car. Gallant is now selling Corsa systems and said it's around $900 for the catback system. He'll probably forget but he told me he would call me when he installs the first Corsa so I can hear them. Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on that.
