I have stock exhaust on my 91 with the 2 " precats" and main catyletic converter. How is or what is the best
way to replace with a less restrictive exhaust, not get too loud, and still be legal in Washington State.
I've gone thru the cataloges and seems to be a lot out there to choose from. I would like to find out what
other forum members have installed and what they think and of course the added performance is always
a bonus :D Thanks
Stinger
If I had it to do again, it would be to experiment with only mufflers and leave the stock resonator alone. A lot of guys say different brands don't resonate but that is individual opinions. At 1700-2000 rpm my Flowmasters drive me bonkers. :mad
Everything that has been said about them, quality, sound, resonance, looks, and so on... are all true
the only 2 draw backs, and that really depends on you, that I can think of:
1. The outside tips stay clean while the inside tips get dirty. Give the appearance that the outside tips are only cosmetic. (If I am correct, they only work at WOT)
2. 5% of the time, I think it's a bit too quite, 95% wouldn't want any different. (this one is really up to your taste)
That was a July special - Corsa for $750. It's not available at that price anymore. I bought one, but it's not installed yet. So my car still sounds stock. DOH! The boxes have a nice bass rumble to them when I smack 'em!!!
And play the videos...those are at around 3000 RPM. At highway cruising speeds (2000 RPM for a Z51) they are very quiet and no resonance at all. When you open the engine up...wicked sound! I have been putting major miles on my car since the Corsa went on...I just love the sound!
One of the guys following me in a convertible is ordering a set, he was two cars behind me when I punched it from a stop sign...when we stopped for gas he said, "where can I buy a set".
Also...they look great! Best fitting system out there for a C4...Rippie did it for me in 1 hour!
