I have done it a few times now. Just about every time I take it to a shop and they put it on the lift incorrectly . Anyway, all I do is go get some fiberglass resin and a sheet of fiberglass fabric and presto. I give it a good sanding and re-spray it with some black paint and its done. Too easy, and the resin gives you a great contact high . Just kidding, dont tell my boss...
I basically did it the way MPCORVETTE suggests. My car apparently had small road damage to the rt footwell. The patch kit worked good. I had to remove the carpeting on the inside & the metal guard piece on the exterior .
No I would not take it to a body shop to repair it. It is a very basic home repair.
I get the resin from ACE Hardware ,fiberglass and the color to match the resin, you just mix the color prior to puttting the drops of catilas in the resen.I use a paint brush and coat the floor pan and install the fiberglass and once it is streight ,Pour the resin as deep as you need it to be.
I also use duck tape to block the holes if you need to .
