Default I was wrong

A while ago I wrote in asking if anyone had problems with their LT-1 leaking oil, I got several answers and upon checking finally nailed it down to the front seal. The problem is the front cover actually has two seals. The first being the main seal, the second, the water pump shaft seal. When I tore into it I expected to see the main seal leaking, however I did not, the water pump shaft seal was the problem. So I changed both seals after dropping the pan, installed a new water pump and added a new belt. While I had it up in the air, changed the engine oil/filter and transmission oil/filter. The car only has 27,000 miles and would sit up during the winter in Florida waiting on its doctor owner to arrive from up north. I am leak free now, but it was sort of a pain in the posteior to fix. I hope this helps someone, I started at the front of the engine and will work my way back if anything else starts leaking. I idea is to sort of narrow down my search from now on. Good luck guys and thanks for the tips.

I hear that a car sitting idle for long periods causes the seals and gaskets to dry up and crack.
Anyway, now thats fixed, it sounds like you got a good C4, with only 27K miles

There's a third one too, for the opti. But if it wasn't leaking, you were just as well off to leave it alone anyway at your mileage. Glad it all worked out!

Default Yep your right

I changed that one too. But the only one I found leaking was around the water pump shaft. Thanks
