Or what ever they are called! I'm in the process of pulling the motor in my 85 and will be replacing all the 20 year old wire covers and other misc comnnectors and such. I noticed that several of the rubber boots that go over the injector plugs are cracked, can you replace these if so where do you get them. also just found one were the wire was pulled out of the socket.

This is the scope. In 1985,1986 and possibly 1987 the fuel injection components were made by Bosch- that included the connectors and boots. They are not made anymore. Everything later went to GM and weatherpak seals. I have an 86 and already went this route. You have two options. One is you can replace your exsisting connectors with newer ones- which involve cutting off old ones and rewiring with new GM weatherpak. Two is you can do what I did. I searched for companies that did fuel injection work on the web. I found a company in CAL that did fuel injection systems for high end boats. They used Bosch computers and injectors. To my suprise, they had a old bin with new old style Bosch injector connectors, boots and connector pins. I bought them all. They are out there. Just depends on how much time you want to spend searching and if you are that dead set to keeping it stock. Good luck.
1985? Replace the entire harness. its junk waiting to happen.
You know, I keep hearing that but my camaro is an 85 and the harness looks as good as it did the day it rolled off the line. I also have another 85 harness and the wires have insulation that has shrunken back down the length of the wires, split in places and in general doesn't look to good. Looks like oil and maybe solvents got on the wires and affected the insulation. I guess since I've always kept my engine comp clean and fixed leaks as soon as they happened my wiring has lasted.
As far as those boots go...I think you'd have to de-pin the connector to change them out...And I do like the way the boots give the harness a nice "finished" look compared to the following years' harnesses.

They make a weatherpak tool just for removing and installing pins. Crimp tool for the new pins.

painless makes a harness, now.
the real problem is that to replace the harness requires the total disassemby of the dash.

Painless' kit is not a replacement harness, and it doesn't replace anything beyond the firewall, except to get to the computer. It's only intended for aftermarket TPI swaps.
