Hey guys,
As a newbie Vette owner I have another newbie question.
Car is '93 Polo/Tan conv, LT1/auto/59K miles
Situation:
"Service Ride Control" Light is on.
Diagnostic at Chevy shop says left front Actuator.
Send Actuator to Captain Z for rebuild which is needed
per Captain Z.
Captain Z notifies me that gear from shock is in Actuator.
So shock is bad also.
Would you fella's just replace the left front or get
a pair of new Bilstein FX3's to replace both front shocks.
I don't know how long these shocks last or how they
wear.

Firmer??
I think my system is set on "tour" mode and it's plenty firm
for me.
So if I chase the one shock, I will do both and check the rears
also.
Another option which is kinda on my mind is to get a whole
set of Eldebrock IAS's and forget the FX3 system. I know
this is blasphemy but I am considering it.

Thanks for your expert advice.

Its not considered blashphemy. There are many FX3 owners who have replaced the adjustable shocks with non-adj. In fact, if you look in the For Sale section you'll find some buyers who don't consider the Selective Ride a desireable option. For everyday driving the tour mode is firm enough for most of us. If you do decide to scrap the FX3 just remember to hold on to the shocks and actuators for a pontential, future buyer.

While the Edelbrocks are a great-looking shock, and an adequate cruising shock, they are not a performance unit despite what they say in their advertising literature.
For a few dollars more, you could put on a set of Koni Sports and have shocks that really work. Or, for a significant chunk of change less, you could put on a set of four Bilstein Sports and still not have to apologize to anyone.
