Default Dodged another bullet

About 6 months ago my 92 vert blew an upper radiator hose and blew coolant everywhere. Relaced both sections of upper hose and the lower, filled with coolant and it fired right up. I fugured the Opti was toast but all was good. Yesterday it blew a throttle body coolant hose and same thing, coolant everywhere and I just know the Opti is gone. Well, I put the new hose on, topped off the coolant and crossed my fingers, fired it right up and it ran like a champ, no stumble or miss. The date on the original hose was 1-21-92 so I gues it was about time. I am now going to replace the rest of the hoses because I am sure they are the same age. First I am going to by lotto tickets though because if I can dodge the Opti bullet twice I must be doing something right.

On My 93 one of the top radiator hoses blew a couple of years ago. I changed out the hose and since there was coolant everywhere I got out the hose and washed the motor. I Armour All the fuel rail covers etc. so when I had coolant all over the motor I just had to wash it. I think the opti is tougher than we think. I since changed all the hoses as to avoid pushing my luck.

I took a damp towel to the inside of the engine compartment and cleaned everywhere I could see coolant. Gonna take off the fuel rail covers and wash with soap and water and then some protectant and back on they go. Its gonna smell like coolant for a while when its hot but that will eventually disappear.

Good thing you didn't do a throttle body coolant bypass.

It may be tougher than we think, but it is still in a bad place.
