I'm very sorry to hear that. What are your plans? Rebuild stock, or a big, bad, stroker motor? If/when mine goes, I'm going bigger and stronger.
Good luck!

My mechanic is pretty sure the engine is a complete loss without taking the engine out and giving it a real good look. Right now im looking at new crate motors to put in, maybe a ZZ4 :D. It really sucks having a car that you absolutely love for five days, then something like this happens :(.
At least shes with her grandmothers and mothers. There was a 65, 79, and what looked like a 77, all in primer and ready to paint, next to her.

Re: Here she is before the disaster (vettes rule)
It blew 5 days after you bought it?
That really blows. Did you have any kind of warranty, or was it private party purchase?
At least you're going with more power, so it might help soothe the pain a bit.
I hope she's back on the road soon, so you can enjoy the rest of the season.
(edit: I see you're from TN, so your season is a little longer than mine. )

Wow
Sorry to hear your car is sick.
Perhaps a crate LT4 from www.paceparts.com will help ease your suffering.

Re: Here she is before the disaster (blk91)
It sure is sweet having a vette for your first car at 16 :D:D:D, but really sucks having it break 5 days later :(:(:(. Is there a place selling the ZZ4 crate motor cheaper than http://www.paceparts.com ?
My dad didn't buy her from a dealer so there is no warranty.
What are some reasons to tell my dad I need a ZZ4 crate motor insted of a replacement L98 from a donor car if one can be found?

Re: Here she is before the disaster (vettes rule)
Any reason having to do with MORE horsepower, etc., probably wouldn't be good for a 16 year old to tell his dad. Newer, stronger parts, and a warranty, would be a start.
Good luck!
(Some may lecture you that a 16 year old doesn't need that much power, but I don't know your driving skills, so I'll stay away from that subject. )

I am sorry it tossed a rod.
How many miles are on this thing??? I am curious.
I did'nt realize you were only 16. That is a LOT of car for a teenager.
A fresh L98 is all you need. Beleive me... any more and your asking for trouble... I am sure that the last thing you need is a 400hp motor... wait a few years, then build the 400hp motor... but the 250hp L98 has more than enough torque.... so it won't feel soft.
I remember myself at 16... if I had a vette, I more than likely would not be here today - and I was a responsable driver!!!!
Get up with Mr CJ, and find out what he can find you...
good luck, and keep us posted!!!!
