Anyone know what the TURTLE is and where do you get one? Mine just dis=intergrated when I was replacing my ign. switch. I called the dealer,and he said it didn't show on his parts breakdown.....

 

The only turtles I know about are the ones you sometimes see around here crossing the road. I always stop and help them across so they won't get run over or bring them home and put them in the woods behind the house.

It is a white semi-opaque insulator that you can see when you take the steering wheel off and start removing parts. If you go to the GM dealer just have the parts person pull up the page that shows the upper steering column. It has (I think) 5 tabs on it so it looks like a small turtle. Picture a scew off bottle cap that has been stepped on/flattened but twice as large.

Try a salvage (wrecking) yard.

 

I believe they list it as part of the turnsignal switch cancelling cam.

 

The Chevy dealer will show it on the microfiche but the pic is terrible and the parts guy has to be sharp to find it. I bought one last year. I also saw one on the "help" board at O Rileys, or Pep Boys, I think. I will look on my computer and if I can find a part # I will post it here later.
