I had been drooling since before I was 18. Had to wait 35 years to get my '95 coupe/m6 in '02. The smile still hasn't come off. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine, and I'm sure you will! Beautiful car! Take it easy and keep the shiny side up!
Congrats! Just remember, you don't have to race everything that pulls up next to you. People will want to run but part of having a Vette, is having enough class to just cruise when everyone else wants to run 'em and rag 'em out. There is a time and place for everything.

At least it's such a cool car that I can just smile and keep cruising by. The guy that sold me the car told me that people always try and temp you in this car, and you have to be strong enough to save it.
However, I basically accidently smoked an srt10 truck when I was laying into the gas to merge on the road. I was like, why the hell am I having to push the pedal all the way down to merge in front of this truck?
N-I-C-E !!!!!
You will never forget your first Vette.

Ya, I definately have been doing the wave to fellow corvette owners. I had a nice mutual smile in a parking lot from a Black C6 Z06 on Saturday. Every C4 that I have seen waves, but some of the c5/c6 guys definately don't.
You'll start becoming more confident when you start auto-crossing the car. It lets you explore the limits at a safe speed and in a safe enviornment. Have fun!
welcome to the forum i also got my first vette at about 18, it was a 75 stingray, i then sold that and got a modded 81 t-tops, i still have that as well as my new 96 LT4 the C4's are fun cars for sure and congrats on a nice looking car!
Color me jealous! I'm 37, and just now able to realistically THINK about getting a C4. Damn kids.... Love the color, the wheels and your attitude. Good luck on the track. It will be quite different than the Probe. I had a '93 GT. It was not reliable at all, but lots of fun to drive, and very comfortable. Couldn't afford to keep it. Please post pix when lowered!

Ya, I'm pretty lucky to have parents who cover all of my living costs (although it seems like they give me nothing compared to the other kids around here). Some kids here just get the newest M3 or whatever from their parents when they get their license. *cough* ex-girlfriend *cough*
The vette took two years of working at the office, construction work, and even various guitar gigs before I had enough money. However, insurance isn't that bad without collision. I have to pay like $450 to be covered for 6 months.
I'm kind of surprised that you say the probe isn't reliable. I bought mine with 164,000 miles for $1000. I've brought it to 7000rpm every day for the last two years, and it now has 193,000 miles. I definately had to tear open the distributor to replace the ignitor with a GM one. $20 well spent.
Hmmm... My Probe was low mileage (at least it only showed like 45,XXX) when I bought it. It left me sit after about two months of ownership. Dealer raped me for $800 for some ignition problem, then it cost me $100 for spark plug wires, and was going to cost a fortune for suspension work, and I spent a little on tie rod ends. Bought it for $14,000 in '98 and sold it for $7,000 in '00. OUCH!
I loved the look of it though. And I drove it from Colorado to Pennsylvania in two days without any comfort problems. Despite the problems I had with the car, I did enjoy it, and miss it a little. Maybe I just got a bad one. It happens. I didn't know anything about fixing a car myself at the time either. I probably could have fixed the ignition and the struts myself if I still had the car today.
Live and learn.
And I think you will appreciate your Vette more since you had to work for it, than somebody who just has a nice car handed to them.

I think you really just need to be careful about what is happening. I can almost guarantee that the ignition problem was the same thing that I fixed for $20.
It's because the ignitor in the distributor overheats and burns out. You can get a new one from the dealer for $800 (actually accurate pricing), or you can do what I did and cut the wiring harnesses to the distributor and wire in a GM ignitor module that can handle a lot more.
I also replaced the struts on mine, and I spent $400 for tokicos, but you can get kyb's for about $250. Took about two hours with a jack and a spring compressor.
