Default Rear window drain kit?

I was cruising through the Corvette Store attached to this website and came accross a "Rear Window Drain Kit". I am assuming this is for the corners of the rear window near the door that hold water (and what ever else collects there). I have an '84 and I was wondering a couple of things: 1) Was this corrected on later model C4's, and if not, what was GM thinking. 2) Has anyone installed one of these and if so, how difficult is it. I have been painting my '84 myself and noticed how the stuff from sanding the car really collects in that corner and is next to imposible to get out (I think I clearcoated over some of it in that corner.)

No, it was not changed in the later years; my '96 still collects water.

I cannot bring myself to drill holes in my C4's body, so I just suck it out with a small rubber suction bulb that is sold to clean baby's ears. Many guys use a turkey baster to do the same thing.

I installed them in my previous 96, no problems after over 4 years with them... They work as advertised, making them a nice mod especially when opening the hatch after washing or a rainstorm...

The only reason I don't install them on my current C4 is that it isn't a daily driver like my previous one... I don't drive it in the rain, not because I'm scared of water, I just don't feel like having to wash it afterward...

I've read alot of positive responses about this item-it's on my list to do.
The one thing guys caution about-make sure when you drill you go through both layers-and use the drain tube-otherwise your cargo area will end up getting the water. My vette is now a garage queen, but when I wash it I hate messing with that water, and some guys even use blowers and turkey basting tools to get it out

Just put them in mine a few months ago when I installed the new rear window seal. Wish I would have done it when I first read about them years ago.

I searched the forum for "Rear Window Drains" and came up with nothing.
