It's a 96 lt1 I found the old keys but it is useless what are my options. would a locksmith be able to help? hope this doesn't cost a lot was going to have trans work next week would like to keep my appointment. 10-4 on the registration an all, should have thought of that, but there is a lot going on right now. the car is blocking the gate. so i need to get it out of the way. looks like i will be spending some time at DMV tomorrow sooner than i had planed i hope the service shop at the dealer is open on Saturday. The fire department took great care in not to harm the vet they destroyed an azalea bush an some dam pansies well igus they where pansies , to get to the fire. but that cool. the wife's not to happy but she'll get over it. thanks for your response i just needed to tell someone .YOU GUYS ARE GREAT I LOVE THIS PLACE BEST FORUM EVERY
My dad lost the keys to his chevy truck,2003 S10 and the dealer couldn't cut keys for it. They had no info on it in their system. I called my buddy who's parts manager at Andy Chevrolet and he couldn't find anything on it either. I ended up calling a lock smith out and it cost $125.00 and he cut a key for it in the driveway in about 20 minutes.
Sorry to hear about the fire glad nobody was hurt including the Vette.
Just curious, even if he goes to the dealer with his registration, I don't think he'll get a key. The reason is the 1st thing the dealer is going to say is "What value is your resistor for your VATS". The dealers have no records for VATS only the key code.
I've heard the best thing this guy can do is get AAA, wait 3 days, then call them out to get his car VATS value read and get a key.
sorry to hear about your garage. This is why I like the older style keys. They dont have anything special for the locks or ignition like a chip. You can take it to anywhere that makes keys and get a copy for like $3. I found out some places wont do it cause its a car key. And yes they work even better than the worn out originals. A locksmith sounds like the best idea for your keys.
Saturday 1:57 am one 12 pack bud-ice only 3 left, dam only got 2 smokes eight bags of trash 1 very full super can. i can't get a dumpster until i move the car yeah ill just call a locksmith in the morning, with all the cleanup left to do i really don't have time for dmv and a dealer. it sounds like it would be a waste of time anyway. i've never owned a car with a chip/vat or what ever it's called. big pain in the azz is what i call it. THANKS GUYS! now i can go to sleep/pass out. I LOVE THIS PLACE
