Don't know about your area, but around me, one's gone out of biz, one says yeah, they do lots of different cars, and one I know about and wouldn't take my car to. Plus, unless it's been updated, it's at least a few years old.
Me, I'd rather hear current "news". I've seen threads right here on C4 General asking, "anyone know of a good shop in/around_____?" That's what I'd do.

Did you notice the shop in (Lorton) VA, Springfield Motorsports??
That is a MUSTANG shop
I know we have had times where the folks in the area have taken Vettes there for Dyno Day's and they CAN order parts for Vettes however, the "Top 100" for Vettes, interesting

How credible is "Corvette Fever's" recommended repair shops you can trust in the May 06 issue?
Thanks in advance.
'bout as good as anything else Corvette Fever ever prints based on their "Corvette expertise and wealth of knowledge on our cars."
I no longer subscribe to all those rags. Corvette Enthusiast is IMHO the most knowledgable and in tune with Vette reality...some of their staff are members of CF and ACTUALLY own/drive CORVETTES!
I dont think theres any shops near where I live that CAN work on my Vette. I called a few Chevy dealerships with some questions about fixing my headlights and they pretty much told me they couldnt fix it. I did it myself.

Yes, I did notice that. First, I called and talked with them and they said, sure, we work on Corvettes but we're mostly a Mustang shop. The guy did say honestly that some guy had work done on his Corvette a couple times, liked it, and wrote him up as a good "Corvette shop". At least the person I talked to didn't try to exaggerate.
Then, I was in the area, cruised the shop(s) [two, because they've got one on each side of the street], and walked inside the work area. Didn't see a single Corvette. Mustangs all over the place, tho. Asked a couple of the "mechanics" and they'd not worked on a Corvette, either.

Simple paid advertisment.
The Corvette shop I have worked at for many years has received calls from Corvette Fever asking if we would like to donate to their recommendation list.

Total baloney. Talk about a "fever".
Personal exprienece with Springfield :
I went there for a dyno pull because I couldn't get into John's. They had a Mustang in the dyno room, but the operator pulled it out to run my car. The owner went ballistic telling the guy to get that Mustang back in there and finish it up so he could get paid. The owner chewed out the guy for even scheduling a dyno pull for me. They went ahead with my pull and first two runs it spewed built up carbon out the exhaust and ran numbers less than I expected. The last pull was strong but the probe lost the timing signal a couple times during the pull, by sound it went at least to 6500. I got a quick glance at the peak TQ at 360, didn't see the peak HP number, and because he was in a hurry the guy charted only the two poor runs.
I still paid the normal rate but I guess Corvette money isn't as good as "Daddy's paying" Mustang money. I won't go back.

??Your name to their list OR, $$ to be included on their list?????
In Kentucky, it's Hunt & Knight Automotive. But recently they announced they're now working on all makes and models, import and domestic.
I only hope they remember their core peeps, though. They've been in business nearly as long as the Vette itself and have an oustanding reputation among Vetteophiles locally and regionally.
