Metric Switch Causes Heartattack!
So Sunday I decided to wash the vette and do a good interior cleaning. Get her all cleaned up and decide to take her for a quick run before putting her back in the garage.
I start her up and run in the house while she warms up.
When I get back in and start backing out the driveway I glance down and see the
oil pressure is at 420!
I grab my chest as I'm reaching for the key to shut her down, when I also notice the engine temp says 70C.
In my quest for a clean interior I accidently flipped the Metric switch.
flip the switch back and oil pressure returns to normal, along with the heart rate.
On the bright side, I decided to flip back to metric and found I was going well over a 100 before I hit the end of the on ramp! So I guess there's some value to Metric.

I travel at well over 100 down the highway every day and the cops don't blink an eye...but then again I live in Canada.
Our freeway speed limits run at 110 km/h, but most travel at 120-130. Looks good on the speedo

That same thing basically happened to me. I was like, OH **** what now? The sad part is, my wife was in the car and she's the one who figured out the problem...first mind you because, I would have gotten there.
I think she just went into "panic mode" (which gave her instant diagnostic skills
) because it meant "spending more money on the car!"
Moral of the story, don't feel bad cuz you're not alone.

That's happened to me a few times too after cleaning the interior and dash. I thought WTF? then realized the metric switch had been moved.

My gauges will switch like that too BUT I didn't think they would switch to metric unless the ignition was on?

Ever noticed that everything is bigger and faster in Metric units?
I think the Metric system was developed so that Frenchmen could measure their peckers.

BTW, the dash display will override the selector switch locations if any are out of wack, like low oil pressure, low voltage, or high coolant temp.
