Default Window switch revisted

Awhile back I asked about where to get the toggle window switch for my '89. Thank you who replied, I now have the switch. Now another question. Can you just pry up the small bezel around the switch to install it or do I have to unscrew the console cover and lift it up to replace it? TIA

You might be able to replace it as you describe but you might "lose" the wires by doing it that way. It is not that much trouble to remove the screws and give yourself enough room to unplug the wires from the bad switch and then plug them into the replacement switch.

Yes, as mentioned, the wires won't come up through the console and if you pull on the switch the wires will come off. Then you'll have to remove the console anyway. You don't have to remove the shifter ****. Funny how you have to remove the speedo/tach bezel to get the radio/vent bezel off to get the console bezel off. And don't forget the screws inside the center console near the lid latch. Once you get all these parts off you can lift the center console to reach the wiring to unplug the window switch.

Thanks, looks like I'll be doing it tomorrow while I'm doing the laundry. I just told on my self, didn't I. I meant I'll be putting it in while my wife is doing her job.

You might be able to just remove the screws on the radio/vent and console bezels. There may just be enough room to lift the back of the console bezel to reach the switch wiring. Be careful, these parts break and chip pretty easy wherever they're stressed.

Got 'ur done! Wasn't hard at all. I just wish the other stuff I've fixed on that car would have went that easy.
