just measure the resistance of the key pellet, and order a blank key from Ecklers($15 I think)....just tell them the Pellet Code in left column.....then take to a key cutter($2 or so).....much cheaper than a stealership....

If you don't know how to use a multimeter (voltmeter, ohmmeter), just take your key to your local Radio Shack, and have the measure the resistance value on the embbedded chip on your key. Then use the above chart or goto http://asttraining.com/Files/vats1.pdf and have them tell you what it is. Then seach for VATS Key on Ebay. I got mine for $8.00 ea. But you have to know the resistance of your orginal key.....
OR, bite the bullet and go to a GM dealer with the key and pay $30 or more
I stopped by and handed them my key and in 45 seconds they came back and told me the code. No charge at all. Not a hard test for them and if you've ever had your car in their shop for anything they should be pretty about helping you out.
I went to a GM dealer here in Finland. They measured the resistance (cost $15) and wanted $90 for the key for my -88 I didn't buy it and went to other shop that sells US car parts. They measured it also and noticed that GM dealer's code reader was wrong.
Would hate to pay over $100 (+cutting) for key that doesn't work!!
