Default Tire Question

Hello All! I know this may not be the right place to ask this, but I figured I'd get a faster response here.

Anyway....

My husband needs new tires on his 95.
In our research we discovered that the front tires should be 255/45zr17 and the rear tires should be 285/40zr17.

Our question is: Would it make a huge impact if we put the same size tire all around? Would it hurt anything?

Your answers are appreciated.

It may make a difference in the way it steers but it shouldn’t be a big deal as far as I know. But I may be wrong. others will let me know if I'm wrong.

You would be better off staying w/ the original tire sizes. The front rims are 8.5" & the rears are 9.5". If you want to run the same size tire all the way around, you need the same rim size all the way around.

You could probably get away w/ it with your current wheels but I wouldn't recommend it.

Hope this helps...

You can get 2 more 9.5 rims for the front and run 285/40 all the way around. Spend even more money and get some 11" rims and 315/35 tires for the back, move the 9.5 rims with 285/40 to the front (like ZR1 set-up). Either way you will be spending good bit of extra money. Factory set up with different sizes was meant to give better handling, some think it is better, some say not.

That is exactly what I just did - and w/ GS-D3's. Talk about some tread!

The only difference being ZR1's had 275's up front.

Sorry for the hijack...

Unless you have the extra money to do the rims, IMO, stay w/ the sizes you have.
