You need to take the fender panel off next to the battery. It is very easy actually, there are a couple of screws on the top and about 4 in the wheel weel, then there is a bolt on the bottom between the rocker and the gill panel. I think it is 10 mm, and all you need to do is loosen it a little and the tab will slide out as it is slotted for removal.
Undo the hold down and the cables and slide it out of the tray.
Sorry I don't have all the details exactly, but I haven't done it in a coupel of years, but it is not very difficult at all.
Just had to replace my battery the other day. Relatively easy job, but make sure you have the right tools before you start, especially the Torx bit necessary to remove the bolts in the wheel well. Also make sure you line up the panel properly. It took me a couple of tries before I got it right as it kept rubbing on the door when I opened it.
