The hardest job I've done is install LT headers on an LT1 with the car on jackstands. The install of the headers went really easy, the removal of the stock cats was a beatch!. They are held up by brackets that are bolted to the bell housing by bolts that are impossible to reach with a socket. Cut through the left hand one with a dremel and used a 12 point box end wrench on the right side, moving the bolt about one point at a time.

Been there, doing that...

4,000k+ header replacement.

Now full on rebuild with port and polished heads, balanced and bluprinted, and completely custom exhaust.

This car has been cream. The hardest thing I've done was an engine rebuild on a 1991 Lincoln Town Car that the former owner had ran the car so long between an oil change, that the oil was sludge top to bottom. It spun a main bearing because of the sludge.

It took a week and a half after the engine was disassembled to remove all of the gook from it. I think we used 4 gallons of gas and about 10 cans of 99 cent engine degreaser to clean it. We used toothbrushes to get all of the crap out of the hard to get at spots, we used coathangers with rags to get all the oil drain holes cleared. The car has been ran 12k miles and 2 years since and it runs and drives great.

The Vette's biggest repair has been the third brake light, which took me all of about an hour and a half, including the trip to Autozone, to change them bulbs out. This car is easy to work on.

Its a toss up between installing a Super Ram intake manifold or replacing the ZF-6 transmission with a Mcleod dual disc clutch installed. The SR install is a bear on its own but I had to do it twice because the Accel runners were machined improperly and I had to fix a vacuum leak. The Mcleod hydraulic throw out bearing bolts to the bell housing transmission mounting bolts so you have to remove the transmission with the bell housing attached!!! I had to cut away half the floor boards and make new fiberglass covers. Took me two months. Never again.

I've done 2 heater cores, and that was far worse than changing the plugs. If I lived further south I would just bypass the %&%^ thing.

after reading all these posts I could say most of the above...I have supply of parts to put on starting next month when I get back home.
Headers w/xpipe & magnaflows, Electric WP, windshield WS ( I have a coupe), Hotcam install--might go ahead & do the heads too--C5 brake upgrade so I can put on my new wheels/tires, outside drivers door WS, no to mention a whole day of cleaning the entire car

If anyone in SE mich wants to lend me a hand &/or their knowledge it'd be appreciated.

Installing the SuperRam was a definately a learning experience when I was still new to my Vette.

When the MAF failed on me and left me stranded, taking it off and driving the Vette home and back to the parts store was also a very unusual learning experience.

Putting that new *** end on... (see website).

That was difficult... other things are annoying. Working with coolant is easy, but it annoys me.

FYI...Not that you will need it on that car, now that the bushings are in, but I found my "blue wrench" (aka oxy-acetylene torch) was VERY helpful in convincing those ol rubber bastards it was time to leave! In seconds the old bushings began to smoke (don't want to over-do the heat bit!), and then a wooden dowel and a mallot poked them right out; A little steel wool while it was still hot to clean out the hole, a little grease to help the new bushing in and voila!

Hope this helps on your next job. And, I don't know why a propane torch wouldn't work too. It wouldn't be quite as fast, but basically the same principal, methinks.

My mom just got a 2006 Lexus IS250 and you cant even see any of the engine components under their "protection plate" as the dealer liked to call it. Rediculous I had a hard time finding the windshield wiper fluid compartment

The EGR valve was cake. The hardest part was removing that rusty EGR pipe located directly over the top of the valve (LT1 engine.)

I had to stand on top of the engine with the hood open to wrench that **** off there. In hindsight, I should have used a dollop of penetrating oil but the neighbors and the wife got a kick out of the spectacle.

Default Hardest upgrade or repair you have done

...was (try to) replace a water pump thermostat on my sons 951 Porsche.
Compared to that, the Corvette is a Connestoga wagon.

My 03 Tiburon has everything covered up. I have to say 2 things about that:
1 - it keeps the engine VERY clean, and is VERY EASY to keep clean
2 - It's VERY easy to hide the Nitrous and other mods
