210 is normal, when it gets above 235-240 then you worry.

BTW, when I flick my A/C on, the temps drop about 20 degrees from 230-210.

The L98 engine is designed to operate at high temps in order to keep emissions low. 200*-238* is normal. (the secondary fan is programmed to come on at 238*). My "91" Vette temps always read in the center of the analog gauge and never go past 3/4 in 100* heat in stop and go traffic.

I usually hear the kicker fan (Z52) come on at 232*.

Mojo, you changed your avatar. Any story behind the new one?

With your AC on it should stabilize your temps will sitting in traffic as it forces on the primary fan. If the temps creep up to about 230 the secondary should kick on and drop the temps down a few degrees but hold them steady. Once you get moving again and get airflow, the temps should drop back down.

Yes they are going to come up but what is more important is does the cooling system manage itself properly? That is do the fans kick on at the right temp points, does the temps start dropping again when you get airflow again and does the temps hold steady when hit the limits that cause the fans to come (in other words when you sitting in traffic and the temps come up, the fans come on the temps should remain steady and not get any higher until air flow is returned.) If all those are true then you know your system is working as designed.

If you hit 250 and are climbing now you have a problem and need to get the vehicle stopped and shut down to investigate. Otherwise your fine.

Check in between the radiator and the A/C condensor for any trash.

I once ran over a Walmart bag on the road, I didn't see it blow out behind me, about 2-3 miles later I had to stop for something and figured while I'm stopped I'll see if the bag hung on the exhaust or something.

The bag wrapped around the kicker fan in front of the radiator. Glad I stopped and checked.
