Background is that my 94 has a very nearly new windshield in it that got a bunch of light scratches in it when my wife used a service station windshield cleaner sponge/squeegy on it that must have had a metal piece in it somewhere. In the sunshine the scratches stuck out like a sore thumb and where incredibly distracting.
I read all the past posts I could find on the group regarding removing scratches from windshields and searched the web for ideas as well before deciding on a product to take a shot with. Since none of the scratches could be caught with my fingernail I figured I might have a shot at getting them out, but frankly, I was skeptical.
I bought the scratch compound buffing kit from Eastwood and lo and behold it worked great! Not a single scratch left and the windshield is now crystal clear again. Just wanted to let the group know that this stuff really does work. Its a bit pricey, but its a whole lot better than the alternatives (new windshield or constant annoyance).
I've used Bon Ami non-abrasive cleanser for years and it works very well. There are two kinds of Bon Ami, be sure to get the non-abrasive type. Just sprinkle a little water on the windshield, add some Bon Ami and use a circular motion with a clean sponge or rag. Rinse it well when you are done and the windshield will be like new.

good to know - thanks for the input! i bought the kit to remove a very faint scratch in my new (well, 04) z06, but haven't tried it as yet. i must have had a speck of dirt on the windshield wiper the first time i used them. you can't feel it with your fingernail, and can't even see it in the daylight, but in my garage, under fluorescent light, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Cheap.
Nope, tried it first. Not a chance it was going to touch these.

I have a '59 T-Bird..windshield had a ton of minor scratches mostly due to it's age..I used the Eastwood kit..I'll be damned..it took just about everyone out. Always felt like I was looking through a haze..not anymore..I guess it is about 90 percent better..and as a side note trying to buy a windshield and related parts for a 47 year old car is not an easy task..My hats off to Eastwood
I am going to go with the Bon Ami myself. The windshield on my 87 has a spot that looks like someone swirled a peice of steelwool in a circular motion and is sort of annoying....sounds like Bon Ami is what I need. Also...surprisingly...the windshield on my Explorer Sport Trac is covered in small, small almost like pits and scratches I guess from 60 k of primarily highway driving...but I am still not impressed with the quality of the windshield not being able to take a beating in such a short period of time(3yrs)...I mean for a 2003 Explorer...the windshield looks like crap...heck my 87's windshield is in better shape!!!....And they wonder why (the BIG THREE), are losing money!!!! t
