Auto Trans Problem
Took My Car Out For A Ride On Highway Kicked It Down A4 And Got Some Slippage. I Then Lost 3rd Gear And Overdrive. My Car Has 68000 Miles Could This Be The Electronic Ignition Or Do You Think The Tranny Is Gone . Help Would Be Appreciated.

I have a simular prob. on my 96. in two seperit trans 3rd and 4th went out at same time. they both had a slow 2 to 3 shift.I am not sure if I have bad luck with transmitions or if I have a comp. or wirering prob. with the car. It seems strange two differant trans. would break the same way without something causing it.

as pete k said the 3/4 clutch pack is weak
it could just be back luck for you that it happened to 2 of your vehicals at the same time
you have checked the typical stuff like fluid right?
is it burnt?
if they need to be rebuilt then make sure u get a HD 3/4 clutch pack
the 3/4 pack that was in my truck and vette had 6 frictions
they now have 8

It looks like i did not make my self cleer. It was two difirent trans in the same car. When I put 2nd trans in the car it also had the bad 2 3 shift. and both lost 3rd and4th driving on highway at 60mph crusing.I hope this was a little better.
