$700 a month where do I get it I'll stick with my beautiful dinosaur-using dino oil red C5 at work the other day-my Ruby C4 got all the looks-and I paid cash for her 7 years ago. Go ahead-do it oh, and btw, don't forget tha extra $100 for gas and another $200 for insurance
Yep, I'm sure.... I still love my C4.

I disagree. The definition of "sports car" has always included some form of self abuse... not anymore. I am sure there are folks out there who think the C4 is too "plush" to be a sports car, and that a 1955 MGA is the panecea of all things sporty.
That C5 will run rings around a C4...
They are just so much more refined... and much of that has been caused by an aging demographic and various noise regulations.
I really do like the C6 but for 700 smackers a month for 5 years...I'd let that baby depreciate some and get a nice GS or ZR to enjoy until they become more affordable!!

man Ron! so many choices so little time! Last time I had new Vette fever couldn't get a sales person at the local Chevy store to even talk to me and it was much too cold for a test drive. Then I bought the Callaway so I'm temporarily out of market. I'm sure whatever you find will put the smile back on your face!! Good Luck and enjoy the hunt.
Sounds like you need to sit down and decide what you really want out of the car. Write down the pros and cons of each of the vehicles you're looking at, and be honest about how you will drive it and how much. Do you want to deal with finding parts? Do you want classic styling, or the latest and greatest. How important is the warranty? Is the exclusivity of the GS or the ZR really important? Will you let a GS or a ZR sit in the garage because you are afraid to put miles on them? If so, I bet you'll enjoy the C6 more. Make yourself happy, and we'll all be happy for you.:
On my way to work today I saw a ratted out '84. It had been hit in the driver's rear quarter. Little strings coming off the bodywork fluttering in the wind. One tail light out. Paint chipping off the rear bumper and around the tail lights. I still thought it was cool, and I wanted to take it home... I felt like the car needed me. Do you want a car that needs you, or are you looking for a turn the key and drive vehicle?
Only you can say for sure. And you're about to drop a load of cash that is coming from a sentimental source. Choose carefully.
And she is a pretty too! I just sold an 87 vert and I'm missing her with this nice weather and all.
By the way. Bottom line on the C6 was 56K. After tax and title etc it brings the 60/mo payment into the upper $700/mo range. Holy squirrel turds!
HMM 700 a month thats a lil less than i pay for the vette and dd if i sell them both ill just have one car payment

I told the admiral (wife), that as I was turning 59 1/2 I was going
to pull some retirement funds out and buy a new C-6. Had it all
picked out, Monterey red, coupe, 3 package, auto, upgraded
rear end ratio et.
Upon consulting my tax specialist I was informed this would bring
my income up to the next level and cost me 23K in taxes
PLUS the car. Well when EMS was able to get me off the oxygen
and the chest pain disappeared I went to this fine forum and found
Wally's '93 Polo/Tan conv in Wisconsin. A train ride and drive home
in -9 degrees to Michigan later and I'm the proud owner of a vette.
While I'm still considering doing the above and "damn the torpedoes"
my '93 is sure sweet and a blast to drive.

Hey Ron, If the dealer would accept one I could hook you up with a "GM In The Driveway Certificate" It would knock about $6-7 K off the msrp price........

Never mind, I don't want to pay $700/mo for 5 yrs .
I've never really lusted after many other Corvettes, but I went to a cruise-in in Indy last weekend and a red 06 Z06 rolled up. That was one beautiful car. I would by one in a second if I had the cash. Don't think thats gonna be a problem for several more years.

The sound is powerful but subdued. Just a touch of the gas pedal and she leaps though! It is quite incredible that you can just stroll in off the street and buy a 400hp car though! There was a lady there who was picking up a Cobalt that she got for $16,000. I told her that the downstroke would be more than she paid for her car!

Never heard of that one. I used to get the GMO or GMS discount but with both parents now gone I no longer qualify (Dad was a supervisor at one of the local GM plants).
I am going to hold out till Carlisle. I'm sure the sight of 100+ "skunks" will get me pointed in the right direction.
