New Bilsteins, Big Difference

Default New Bilsteins, Big Difference
Just got new Bilsteins for my 1985 Z51 and it made a big difference - the previous shocks were the 21 year old, 53k mile original equipment and the rears were rusted in. The car feels much 'tighter': much more like I remember early C4s. Maybe my memory wasn't deceiving me after all...

Great.

I replaced my original Bilsteins at 53K but I was cheap and went with KYBs. So far so good. Hope I wont regret not putting Bilsteins back on but for the price I couldnt resist the KYBs. Can always change later..... Drive on.

I just put mine on a couple of weeks ago. The previous owner had put on Monroe's. When I took them off you could collaspe them and they stayed that way. They say the 84's have a rough ride well you should try it without shocks! She's rides sweet now.

I have KYB's in the front and Belsteins in the rear. Tight and a good ride.

Two things can make an old car feel young again: new shocks and new tires.

Glad you like the Bilsteins...they were a good choice.

I saw them as well in that catalog - price looked like a winner - its on my to do list for sure now.

How did it ride on the old shocks? Like a boat, or did they stiffen up with age? Are you saying the rears were siezed?

The old shocks were very, very stiff - with lots of creaking (like an old boat, but not in the sense I think you meant).

The rears weren't seized but they had rusted to the [inset name of rear suspension part I don't remember].
