I know this topic has been brought up before, but I also noticed that its not in the C4 Tech section. Whether you use GM Top Engine Cleaner or Seafoam, I think it would be a great addition and i'd even be willing to write it if nobody objects. I do, however, have one question: The C5 guys all say that cleaning the engine requires 2 cans of cleaner, while i've had success with one can in smaller engines. So in a C4 (L98) should you use 2 cans or just 1?
I bought seafoam because of what I read on this forum about a thread on it.
I put 1/3 into gas tank, 1/2 into intake, was thinking about putting last 1/6 into oil but decided against it.
It did slightly help my idle, it still lopes quite a bit. I do not think 2 cans would completely solve it. Maybe it would though? I only put in 1/2 a can.
I put nearly the entire can through the PVC valve to the intake. Putting it in the oil cleans out more carbon deposits that are deaper in the engine. You'll need an oil change not too long after though, say after 100 miles or so.
Some people dont belive in the "mechanic in a can" but this stuff kinda is. I've sat at a workbench for hours scraping carbon off of heads and still not gotten them completely clean. This stuff can do that in a few minutes with little effort. Of course it wont fix mechanical problems, but I wouldnt expect it to.
Rislone and 5w30 drive a day,,(normal) with a $3 filter ,,,change oil and filter....i use Valvoline .... Than watch it dialy to see it get dirty....if it doesn't in 5 days,,,,do the seafoam and cheap oil and filter
do change the filter each time,,cheap is fine....watch pressure and temp's ,,,,if you don'r want to drive just run at a high idle sitting but let it run at normal temp for awile

My dad was a chemical engineer and he swore by this stuff.
I believe it is made by one of the big oil companies, not sure which one.
Anyway, this will clean out your engine. The problem is that a lot of people put it in at oil change and keep it in for 3000+ miles
If you use Rizlone, get it out before 500 miles!! Preferably after 200-300 miles. I was told that after a while it will do more harm than good if you keep it in too long.
Go to www.bobistheoilguy.com and check the section on additives.
So much is snake oil but Rizlone, if used properly does what it is supposed to do.
By the way, read the section on Lucas Oil additive...You will never buy that stuff again after you read this.
I am using Auto-Rx now in my new to me '93
Looking at the oil filler hole the difference is
amazing with only 400 miles in treatment.
The metal, valve springs, et look new.
I will go another 1100 miles then do a rinse
phase for 1500 miles with a non PAO/Ester
group III synthetic, then back to real PAO
synthetic based (Amsoil in my case) synthetic
engine oil.
I became aware of this product from

oil mavens as well as those just fairly
