Default temp. roof replacement

I have the removable hard top for my 96 and had it out the other day. When i got back in the car i burnt about everything touching the car with bare skin. I thought there was a temporary replacement peice that i could slip in there while out of it for a little. I looked but could only find water proof heavy ones. I'm looking for some cheaper plastic one that just blocks the sun from killing my leather. Anyone have one and use it? is it any good? where and how much?

i can't believe no one finds this topic interesting. i really don't want to buy the water proof $300 one when i don't ride it in the rain. i just need the cheap plastic one to block the sun and saves me from burning myself when i sit down.

This is the only thing I know of. Never tried it, so I can't comment on how well it works.

Yeah i saw that one but that still looks too heavy duty for me. steal reinforced and water proof are not necessary. the price for that didn't seem too bad though. if i have to i might have to get that. only if worse comes to worse.

Do you not carry the roof with you? I always just set it on top without screwing it down when i go into the store, fast food, mall, etc... whatever.. nobody is going to mess with it if they see the rood on anyway, keeps bird crap out, and people from poking their hands into it when im not around.

takes all of 10 secs top pop the hatch, set the roof on and walk away.

...and its free

just pop it on and lightly screw the two front screws in. I am creating my own out of a cheap waterproof fabric and a 1/2 inch foam that is going to have 4 inserts that set in the screw holes just to hold the fort down for short periods of time. Ill let you know when it is done and send pics so you may want one

I think he is looking for something to replace the hard top when he removes it for a short period of time not just a ray protector

I have one of the acryllic tops that weighs like 1/2 that of the fiberglass/colored tops.

I actually went to look at my broken solid top a couple weeks ago and noticed how it was WAAAYY heavier than my acryllic top was...

Could you not come up with something like canvas with some elastic loops on the end of them to stretch across like your side view mirros and (not sure what in the back)... think of a canvas bikini top for a jeep or bronco

I use my car cover when I go to work topless. Just gives me even more of an excuse to keep her clean.

I found that the car cover was even more of a headache than just putting the roof back on... that and it rains a lot in FL, so a car cover kind of sucks to put away when you get out of work and its raining hehe

I use a medium sized umbrella . Takes 1 second to install or remove & fits behind the seat . When it rains the top is on & I use it as intended. I have a rubber band secure it to the shift selector so a light breeze won"t take off with it.I put some vacum tubing on the umbrella ribs so it wont scratch.
