The Altecs do a better job true, but at the expense of your paint job. I don't have pics of the paint damage. I have some brand new Altecs ready to go on, but I want to put some cleartastic under them first, but to do that I would have to thoroughly clean that area of the car and I'm just lazy.
i pulled of the flat ones on my car and it actually made it look lower i thought
I used the molded ones, and I'd have to agree, it added a better look to it.. like it was lower or it had some kind of basic body kit or something...
I need to get more pics back online... if you use the molded guards, get some clear plastic cling on or clear vinyl or something.
I've had mine on several years, had the card repainted and noticed it really didn't hurt the paint that much, it was scuffed a bit, but if you plan to keep them on forever, I wouldn't worry about it.
Yep...actually mine are painted gloss black, but the midnight blue pearl is so dark you can't tell the difference. They blend in with the lines of the Vette really well when painted (and I have the GS Flares in the rear) looks factory!

I wonder how those molded ones would look painted the body color....
Anybody ever try that?
Check out my pic's. I would't own another vette without them. They really save the finish from road crap, and look awesum as well. I get lots of compliments on them at meets and shows. I drive quite a bit in the summer and always hit road surfaceing crews re-paving or other work and they catch everything making it sooooo much easier to clean. Oh and by the way I always use "Tire wet" on the inside wheel wells. Not only does it look great, but give the surface a slippery coating making it difficult for crap to stick to it. You can get a small can of spray paint from the dealer or autozone. Hope this helps.
Not sure, it was either Corvette America or Zip products. The paint I bought at a body shop supplier and had a friend shoot them for me. Nice mod for a days work. Like I said, keeps everything nice and no stone chips, road tar etc. I'm thinking of getting one of those invisible bra's next for the front. A couple of the guys just got them and work great also.
to: cmyc4go, I was thinking about having them painted like the car. My wife had a 92 Toyotra Celica and it had molded flaps painted the same as the car and they looked great. They are not as noticable when painted.

I have the wrap around altec design mudflaps on my 85. Although they are bolted in place, fine sand, dirt gets between the paint and the part of the mud flap which wraps around over the paint. Although you would think there would be no movement, there is. If you push the mudflap away from the body by hand you will see there are scratches in the paint where the mudflap/dirt scrape against the paint.
Personally I prefer mudflaps which do not touch the paint on the side of the vehicle.

Fronts are on ( only pix I have )--
I haven't put the rears on yet ( stone chips in new paint), I'll have them painted to match when I have the stone chips done in the "NEW PAINT" ( because I'm stupid)
PS-- did I mention because I didn't put the rear "Mud Flaps" on I now have STONE CHIPS in my new paint!
