I just replaced the Glass struts on my 87 2 weeks ago. I bought aftermarket struts from bb Autoparts through Ebay for like 55 bucks....better than coughing up 120 bucks for OEM's. Just make sure you have someone give you a hand removing and installing the struts.....that rear hatch is H E A V Y !!!!!!!
Ps...the Struts are just fine......seem just as good quality wise as the OEM's.....but time will tell....but otherwise I couldn't be happier

My dad replaced the struts in his '84. He found some after market pieces at a cheaper price, and they worked just fine. It's not necessary to find the exact OEM pieces and pay the big bucks.

I bought a cheap set myself only to find out they wouldnt work, there is a left and right and the cheap set was one side fits all.OEM for me.
One quick thought..if you go aftermarket, be sure to close the hatch very slowly the first time with the new ones...a few years ago a forum member slammed his hatch shut with his new ones and shattered his hatch!...turns out the struts looked exactly the same but were barely longer...better safe than sorry...
