Having problems with my hood riding too high on one side(when shut all the way). Are there different hood hinges for different years of C4. Mine is a 94.
I am assuming you mean it's sitting high at the base of the windshield. If it's at the front of the car, there should be a rubber stop with a lock nut, that can be adjusted up and down as needed.
The hood latches are adjustable. By loosening that big nut on the base, you can turn the stiker that has the spring around it. The striker has a slot for a flat tip screwdriver on the tip. Then tighten the nut back down when you get the hood sitting even with the other side. I did not have a regular wrench big enough, so I had to use a monster adjustable wrench with a big enough jaw opening to loosen that big nut.
The difference between the early and late latches is the spring. 94-96 have a different spring but the rest is the same for 84-96.
Loosen nut (red arrow) then adjust striker (green arrow) for proper height by turning it with a large flat tip screwdriver. Turning the striker clockwise should lower the hood closer down to the latch point, which seem to be what you need. If you turn it clockwise too much, it won't latch closed, too little and the hood sits too high up.
Was the car in wreck or is this a new hood. If so, there are shims that control how high or low the hood sits off the frame. If not wrecked or new hood make sure there is nothing (foreign object) in the way of the hood closing. If there is a gap between the hood and the bumper, the bumper might need to be adjusted as well. Shims there too.
The hot set-up is to remove the headlite assemblies so you can adjust the hood while it is in the closed position.I always scribe the nuts before taking them out, saves a lot of time later..
