Default The official "let's build Mojo's engine thread"

I think it's time to "pay back" a certain moderator! I'm serious here. These guys and gals (yes, I personally know one female mod on this forum, she's in a racing club I'm also in) do this for free and I assume they all put in a good bit of time at it, I know Mr Mojo does. I think most of us feel that this is the best stop on the internet and now we have a chance to give something back to someone who makes it all work in our beloved C4 sections. As most already know, Mr Mojo just blew the engine in his '95. I think many of us have plenty of garage clutter laying around that could help him out. I've already offered him a good stock crank if he needs it and I may have other things that I haven't even thought of yet. I propose that we "build" his replacement engine with no cash outlay on his part for parts. He and his buddies have the talent I'm sure but I'll bet we can give him everything he needs as far as parts. I hope he doesn't take this the wrong way. I'm not talking about charity in that respect, but giving him something in return for what he does for us. Now, who's got what? With 135K on the engine, there's no doubt that an overbore will be required so who's got some oversized pistons? An oil pump, rings, bearings, extra gaskets? A timing set will be needed too.

BTW, if you lock this thread Frank, I'll never forgive you!
And I also decided that I'll ship the crank for free.

I've got a set of LT4 1.6 Roller rockers, springs and the other little pieces that are part of that deal. I bought them from CFer LT4BUD a couple years ago. If you want them Frank, they're yours....

I have a complete engine. You know what it is. We've talked about it. It doesn't appear that I am ever going to acquire an induction system or get it installed. I could let it go for cost, maybe a little less. Unfortunately, I'm not in a position to do any better. Any interest?

RACE ON!!!

How about a Paypal. I live in Hawaii, and shipping would kill the benifit of parts.

I should say here that I'm sure that there are many more folks here who'd like to help than will be able to for reasons stated here, in CFI's and in steve40th's posts and for any other numbers of reasons. But I do know that there are many of us around here who accumulate things for whatever reasons, plans change, something doesn't fit into the program anymore, etc. And many times, individually the part(s) are hardly worth enough to find a buyer for and so they sit around. But added up, they can be worth quite a bit to someone who may be needing to buy a lot of stuff at once. I certainly don't want to send anyone on a guilt-trip here. With the wealth of knowledge around here, advice and just encouragement and support are valuable assets too, as we all know. I really did think about, before posting this, that it might be slightly embarassing to Frank too. But I hope that he can overlook that and appreciate this in the spirit in which it was intended, and that is just as a way of saying thanks from all of us, whether we have anything he can use or not. And I'm not looking for brownie points. If he was gonna kick me out of here, he'd have done it back when I was (an even more) obnoxious noob!

I've got a motor with 100,000 miles that still runs mid 11's. I won't need it with the big block.
Frank we could talk.

I have a good friend who is an engineer at Hastings where they make piston rings. Tell me what size overbore and I can snag a set for you. No cost as shipping on these is probably less than a cup of my favorite latte.
I am driving my truck to Cruise In, Bloomington Gold and Carlisle this year. If an engine deal comes through and I can pick it up in BG or St Charles I will be glad to deliver it to Carlisle where you can pick it up.
Just let me know.

Ok, now that you are through blowing Frank and the other mods......

Seriously, I've met Frank and personally know a couple of the other mods on these boards. Most like Frank, are stand up peeps The gig is voluntary. Frank does a GREAT job here and IMO, very well balanced in keeping the board "clean" while allowing personal freedoms (which are not guaranteed on a private board). Never dictatorial or lock happy and lets things go much further than others, again without risking the integrity on the board

With that said, I too lack any LT parts, but will be happy to check with some friends and shop owners I know if they have anything they can donate?

Also, since I don't have parts, please open a PAYPAL account and I'll be happy to donate

Sorry about your motor Frank

Gordon

Be careful with those donations! You don't want to bump Frank into a higher tax bracket. The last thing we need is cranky mod with IRS problems....

I sure do appreciate the thoughts and efforts of you guys. This just backs up my statement that C4 guys are and always will be the best.

I really don't know if I could accept anything from anyone, so we'll leave it at waiting until I find out exactly what is wrong.

Thanks to all of you.
