How safe is it to have the engine compartment on a c4 steam cleaned?

you can just order a new opti with the steam cleaner

Gordon Killebrew says not to do this. He advises spraying down a warm (not hot) 84-91 engine with Westley's cleaner (not the whitewall tire stuff) or Simple Green. Let it sit for a good while and then spray off with your garden hose with the sprayer set on mist. Cover the distributor cap and alternator with a plastic bag first.
Do not wet down an LTx engine. Use cleaner that is sprayed on a rag first and clean it by hand.
