Default Again...

Second time, got the infamous 'page connot be displayed' last time. Good excuse for new computer!

Anyway, I just went through this, to the tune of $4600 (including a new ZF6). No, apparently they cannot be resurfaced. Any indication of wear whatsoever, grooves, burns, concaved, anything, the best thing is to bite the bullet and replace it, about a $950-$1000 part by itself.

Mine only had a couple slight burns, otherwise in good shape for 60k miles. I was cautioned against re-using it with the new plate and disc, not only by the shop doing the work, but 2 other transmission specialists. Be glad if you don't have a ZR1, those are $1500.

As long as everything is apart, maybe plan on a new slave cylinder, mine started leaking after reassembly. Good time for new u-joints. And since the exhaust has to come out, that's the best time to put your new system in, Corsa maybe?

I'm pleased I went as extensive as I did, the car drives perfectly. Not thrilled about the cost, but this is pay to play. Don't hesitate to throw all new stuff in there, better once right than once more.

Edit: I have all the old parts, should anyone be interested...

Some claim it can be done, but no, I do not think it's possible to do it perfectly. Even Luk (the manufacturer) says it can't be done.
A new DMF from carolinaclutch.com is around $700 and around $600 and change from dialaclutch.com

I purchased the entire package ie: New Luk DMF, new Valeo Clutch kit, and a new Slave Cylinder, from dialaclutch.com for $980 shipped. I did an extensive search before I made the plunge, and I honestly believe that the deal from dialaclutch was virtually unbeatable. Ask for Tom

Hope this helps

I just bought a brand new dual mass.

You aren't supposed to cut them, but I did on the old one. I wouldn't do it again.
