They run hot, I would make sure my coolant was good, and like someone else said check for debris, shortly after picking up my 95 I thought one of my fans was not coming on and after checking I found a plactic bag had found it way up there. Mine runs in the range indicated in the previous responses. I did put a new radiator in 2 years and had thought about changing the stat, and adding 40 below. I had not thought of the not being to close to another car, but actually I never get too close to cars as 1 thing I noticed out here in the Palm Springs CA area is that alot of people don't see you. Anyway mine is all stock and runs hot compared to other cars, but is well within the range indicated. The mechanic at the dealer who's been around told me when they first came out people were bring them in all the time for that reason. It over a hundred here today and will be for the next 4 months and my car has not overheated out here in the 2 years I had it.
On LTx engines, the ECM controls fan-on/fan-off action, based upon numerous inputs (coolant temp, oil temp, failure codes set, etc). The ECM can be reprogrammed to kick the fans on/off at whatever coolant temp you choose.
Up through model year 1993, this is accomplished by burning a new EPROM chip, and installing it in the computer. From 1994 through 1996, the ECM used flash memory, and the change can be made through the diagnostic port with a PC and the appropriate software and interface cable.
