Where dis you guys install the switch to? I'm thinking of picking up a nicer switch than what came with the kit. Something with a small LED indicator so that I know when the fan is manually on or not.
The instructions are pretty straightforward, I'm just looking for ideas on out-of-the-way placement. This is the one that lets you ground out the fans and keep em' running with the car off.
I didn't do any drilling through the firewall like the directions call for. I velcroed the switch to the A-Pillar right at the level of the side view mirror. Then ran the wires over the door into the engine compartment. I grounded the the screw on the back of the computer box, and ran the wires along the edge of the wheel well. I didn't even splice into the factory wires, I just took apart the relay and plugged in the wire in the appropriate spot. All in all it came out realy nice and neat and you cant even tell the swich is there unless you look for it.
Let me know if you need more detailed instructions. The whole procedure only took me like 20 mins to complete.
I installed my own switch and one of these days when I getaroundtoit, I am going to make a bracket and mount it on one of the screws that hold the lower dash (where the hood release is).
If you don't smoke or don't drink two cups of coffee at the same time: how about mounting the switch under the flip up lid covering the cup holders?
Scorp: I put mine under my right knee under the dash in the carpeted panel. I grounded the single wire to the metal under dash area with the screw that holds the dash underpanel up. There is no current, only a ground wire connection. I ran the wires through the firewall in a bunghole behind the battery in my 94.. No need to drill a hole! Switch works just fine.
