Default Hi - Low Headlight Switch

Seems my switch is not working. I only have low beams. There is no switch detent when I pull the turn signal forward. Actually it reminds me of a limp fish hand shake, it seems to "float" back and forth. I looked in the FSM to see how to change it. Before I start pulling the steering wheel and air bag, does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Carefully pop the plastic piece off of the column and see if you need to push the rod back onto the end of the lever. I had that problem once with my '89 and didn't actually have to take the column apart.

Thanks Siveck, I was/am hoping that is the problem. I am going to replace the turn signal handle as the original has the paint worn off it. I will check the rod when I pull that front cover off and HOPE it is that simple!

Make sure to attach a wire to the end of the cruise control wire before you pull the old one out because you will need it in order to pull the new wire back thru the column.

I just had mine apart last week you will need a wheel puller and a tool to take the air bag coil off.Got them both for about 40 bucks and the parts store.First i would remove the kick panel and that is where the switch is see if the rod is in the little hole in the end. The stem just pulls out you don't have to take it apart there sould be a cover behind the stem take it off and unplug the cruise wire very easy to do.i would check the switch under the kick panel first Tbone

On mine if I tilt the steering wheel all the way down they work. I don't drive much at night but for inspections it comes in handy to know
