Dashlights Dim

When I turn on my headlights, the dashlights begin to dim to black. Anyone out there had the same problem and if so, how did you fix it?

When I had the windos tinted in my 84 I had the same prob. Cleaning the lense protecter for light senser helped in my car. IT is behind the small square hole top left of dash on early c4. shine a flash light in there to see if dash gets brighter. Some place to start that won't cost anything.
